The End of TCS

Well, we have reached the end of the road and I must admit that it has been one hell of a ride.  I announced to our contributors last week that TCS would cease publication effective immediately.  This evening I announce the same to you.  I have taken down the buy now button and have officially called in the dogs and pissed on the fire.  I really look forward to doing a little more fishing and hunting and spending more time with my family.  I do have another business venture in mind but will take my time developing that and it will be as far from fly fishing as one can get.

The fact is that the small market realities caught up with us and getting paid in the business is super hard.  So, the magazine is not a self sustaining entity at this point and that is really too bad.  However, I knew the challenges going in and took them head on.  It has made me a better person, a better business person, a better publisher, and a better writer.

Thanks for being part of the trip and I would like to say thanks to everyone that took the time to read the magazine or check us out.

Until we meet again.

It Has Been Some Time

It has been some time since I posted anything here.  I have to apologize.  We have not gone away.  We are working on the very next issue.  However, I have been settling into a new day job and just really haven't had the time to tackle the blog.

There are some changes to note.  Our address has changed.  It has really just gone away.  If you sent something to the South Lyon P.O. Box don't panic, the mail will be forwarded for the next month or so.  So, we will get it.  Moving forward, if you would like to subscribe, please utilize the PayPal Buy Now Button in the right hand column.  There will also be a change to how we invoice advertisers as well.  We will only be sending invoices via PayPal in the future.  This will allow for greater flexibility in payment options and allow us to more accurately track our accounts payable.

Don't panic we can accommodate special requests if snail mail is the only option.  Just drop me a line and I will get you a mailing address that can be used and I can also get you a hard copy invoice if that's a must.

Since, my last post I had a blast as salmon camp and have been busy with the new issue.  I can't wait for you all to see it and it should be available to everyone around November 1.

Look for more posts from me here now that I am somewhat settled in.

Fall Streamer Tips

It seems like I have posted this before leading up to the fall fishing season.  Here is a list of tips lifted from the guys over at Orvis.  I especially like the idea of wearing camo to blend in for stealth.  I also like the idea of fishing a fly with orange in it.  Lets face it some things just work.

Here are the tips.

Volume 5 Issue 2 Correction/Update

Well, something like this seems to happen with every issue.  I forgot to credit Mr. Joel Tomaszewski for the photo at the beginning of Jeff Vande Zande's great story Early Rising

I will see Joel at our upcoming salmon camp and apologize.  I am sure he will forgive me.  I have said it before and I will say it again; "without the help of Chris Therssen, Joel Tomaszewski, and Wayne Snyder The Cedar Sweeper would probably have gone away long ago".  Thanks for all your help gentlemen.

Now that I have mentioned Joel ... his photo will be on the cover of the upcoming issue.  The copy is starting to roll in from the likes of Vande Zande and Deschaine.  The issue is already starting to come together and I can't wait for you to see it.

Until Then.

Its another musical Thursday for me.  I don't know why Thursday's are like this?  Its probably just a coincidence.

Anyway ... enjoy Marty!

You Can Help Too!

It is getting to be that time of year again.  The daylight hours are getting shorter and the nights are getting cooler.  The bean field out back of my house is quickly turning yellow.  It won't be long before we are chasing big bucks and harvesting does to keep the ratio in check.

Here is something that you can do.  Its really a win-win.  You get to hunt and shot deer and somebody who is hungry gets to enjoy a meal.

This Just In ....

I will be at the Paint Creek Rod and Fly Festival on Saturday September 14th with good friend Wayne Snyder.  We will be spending time at the Brookhaven table.  Jeff and Mike Johnson are good friends of the magazine and advertisers.

So, be sure to stop by.  You can say hello, check out Brookhaven (an amazing fishing experience), talk some fly fishing, subscribe, or buy some ad space for your fly fishing business.  I will have some freebie copies of the latest issue and some TCS shirts with me.

If you subscribe on Saturday (at the festival or on-line) I will be donating $1.00 from each $20.00 subscription to Clinton Valley Trout Unlimited.  This is a great way to get your fly fishing reading fix during the upcoming off season and help our local streams.

If you own a fly fishing business please don't hesitate to ask about the great prices on ad spaces.  We would love to help you spread the word about your fly fishing product or service.

It should be a great day on the banks of Paint Creek in downtown Rochester.

I can't wait to see you all there.
