One of the first pieces that Andy Duffy did for the magazine was on swinging wet flies. This guy is a wet fly maniac and his piece outlined technique as well as a few of his choice patterns. Now, I have not yet followed Andy's advice but have vowed to fish with him this spring or summer for sure. In fact, now that I think about it, I need to get out and on the water with a lot of people this season. I digress though; team Orvis and Rosenbauer have a nice post over at their blog about swinging wets and nymphs.
The thing about this technique, and what Andy outlined in his piece, is that you can cover a lot of water very fast. It lets you find out where the fish are holding that day and if you pay attention to the fly you are using you can probably find out a lot about what they are feeding on that day as well.

The Orvis News blog, especially when Rosenbauer, is posting is about on par with some of the advice you will find over at Gink and Gasoline. Here is a link to the blog post.
