Our good friend Jeff Johnson from Brookhaven Lake offers this update.
The brookies are averaging 15 inches with the big ones measuring out at 25 inches.
The grayling are averaging 10-12 inches and they are working on raising at least 2000 more.
They are having trouble with blue herons trying to eat the grayling but they are working of an imitation alligator to help police the herons.
The very best news though is that they had over 300 kids visit the interpretive trail this past summer where they learned about Michigan fly fishing history. They also get a chance to check out the lake and cast a fly rod to see what might turn up. I could tell when I first did a story on Brookhaven almost two years ago that this is what Jeff was most excited about. Its a great thing to have kids learning about fly fishing.
